Zenmuse S1 is DJI’s high‑intensity LEP spotlight for Matrice 350/300 RTK. Three lighting modes deliver up to 10,000 lumens and 35 lux at 100 m, illuminating targets out to 500 m. Weighing just 760 g, it adds IP54 ruggedness, automatic eye/burn safeguards, and gimbal‑synced control for seamless night missions.
The DJI Zenmuse S1 is DJI’s first high-powered spotlight designed for multi-payload drone platforms, compatible with the Matrice 350 RTK and Matrice 300 RTK. Utilizing advanced Laser Excited Phosphor (LEP) technology, the S1 delivers up to 10,000 lumens of brightness, with a central illuminance of 35 lux at 100 meters. This powerful beam extends visibility up to 500 meters (1,640 ft), ensuring clear visual support in complete darkness. Zenmuse S1 is an indispensable payload for nighttime operations such as public safety missions, emergency search and rescue, infrastructure inspections, and other critical tasks after dark.
Multiple Lighting Modes for Any Scenario
The Zenmuse S1 offers four selectable lighting modes to adapt to different mission needs:
- Low Beam: Broad 15° beam reaching approx. 150 m (492 ft), providing wide, evenly-distributed illumination. Low Beam is ideal for close-range lighting and serves as a fill light matching the field of view of a zoom camera at 5× and above.
- High Beam: Narrow 4° spotlight reaching up to 300 m (984 ft) for long-distance targeting. High Beam concentrates light in a tight area (around the FOV of a camera at ~15× zoom), suitable for focused observation while maintaining low power consumption.
- Both On: Low and High beams activated together for maximum intensity and range. In this mode, the S1 can illuminate targets up to 500 m (1,640 ft) away while still covering a broad area for enhanced situational awareness.
- Strobe: Flashing light at 5 Hz for signaling and hazard awareness. Strobe mode can be used to draw attention or serve as an aerial warning light during emergency operations or low-visibility conditions.
Brightness Meets Energy Efficiency

Delivering a peak central illuminance of 35 lux at 100 m, the Zenmuse S1 turns night into day without draining your batteries. In High Beam mode it draws just 17 W, keeping the payload’s power demand low and helping your Matrice maintain valuable flight time.
Reliability & Safety, Built‑In

Which drone platforms are compatible with the Zenmuse S1?
The Zenmuse S1 is compatible with the DJI Matrice 350 RTK and Matrice 300 RTK. Note that the only supported remote controller is the DJI RC Plus. Before using the S1, make sure to update the drone and the RC to the latest firmware.
On which gimbal mount can I attach the Zenmuse S1?
You can mount the Zenmuse S1 onto any gimbal connector on the Matrice 350 RTK or Matrice 300 RTK (downward or upward). In other words, it can be installed on any of the drone’s gimbal mounts, giving you flexibility in single or dual payload configurations.
What is the ingress protection (IP) rating of the Zenmuse S1?
The Zenmuse S1 is rated IP54.
Under controlled laboratory conditions, it can achieve an IP54 rating per IEC60529. This rating is not permanent and may diminish with wear and tear over time.
What is the maximum illuminance of the Zenmuse S1?
The S1’s maximum central illuminance is ≥ 35 lux @ 100 m (in Both On mode).
Measured in a lab environment at 25° C (77° F) with the Zenmuse S1 on the aircraft using Both On mode.
What is the illumination range of the Zenmuse S1?
In Low Beam and Both On modes, the S1 has a beam FOV of 15°, which corresponds to illuminating an area of roughly 544 m² at a distance of 100 m. In High Beam mode, the beam FOV is 4°, illuminating an area of about 38 m² at 100 m.
What are the differences between the three lighting modes of the S1?
The Low Beam mode provides a wide, evenly distributed beam, roughly matching the field of view of a Zenmuse H20/H30 series camera at 5× zoom and above. It’s best for general ground illumination and as supplemental light for imaging.
The High Beam mode produces a narrower but highly focused beam, roughly matching the field of view of an H20/H30 camera at 15× zoom and above. It’s ideal for long-distance observation while keeping power consumption low.
The Both On mode uses both Low and High beams simultaneously, resulting in a wide coverage with very high central brightness. This mode is suitable when you need both broad area lighting and long-distance illumination together.
What precautions should be taken when using the Zenmuse S1?
1. Using the spotlight in very humid conditions may cause temporary fogging on the lens. This doesn’t affect the S1’s optical performance. After use, place the S1 in a dry, ventilated area and the fogging will clear up naturally.
2. When flying at night with the S1 on, the drone’s obstacle avoidance sensors might occasionally receive false readings due to the light. If necessary, you can disable obstacle avoidance, but always operate in open areas and with caution when flying with the spotlight.
3. Do not touch or rub the coated lens surface with hard or sharp objects. Scratches or damage to the lens coating can reduce light output efficiency and affect the illuminance.
4. To clean the spotlight lens, use the included soft, clean lens cloth. Gently wipe the lens surface. Do not use any alkaline or abrasive cleaners.
5. Store the spotlight in its protective case when not in use. Keep it in a dry, ventilated environment (ideal ambient humidity is 40% to 50%). Proper storage will help maintain its performance and longevity.
What are typical application scenarios for the Zenmuse S1?
The S1 spotlight can be used in a wide range of night operations, including but not limited to public safety patrols, emergency rescue missions, emergency repair work (e.g. power outages), law enforcement and traffic accident management, and equipment or infrastructure inspections in low-light conditions.
What should I do if the Zenmuse S1’s lens fogs up during use?
Lens fogging can occur in low-temperature environments due to a temperature difference between the inside and outside of the lens (a common physical phenomenon). In our tests, any internal fogging has minimal impact on the S1’s brightness and overall performance, so you can continue to operate normally. If fogging occurs, after the flight simply allow the spotlight to sit in a dry, room-temperature area. The internal moisture will dissipate on its own over time, clearing the fog.
