DJI Matrice 30 Series FAQ

What is the difference between the DJI Matrice 30 and the DJI Matrice 30T?

The DJI Matrice 30 (often referred to as the M30) features three sensors on its gimbal and camera: a wide-angle camera, a zoom camera, and a laser range finder. The DJI Matrice 30T (or M30T) adds a thermal imaging camera to the same set of sensors, making the Matrice 30T ideal for use cases such as law enforcement, industrial inspections, firefighting, and search and rescue operations.

Which version of the M30 is compatible with the DJI Dock?

The DJI Dock is compatible with the M30 (Dock version) and the M30T (Dock version), but not the regular M30 Series drones. When purchasing the DJI Dock, you’ll receive either the M30 (Dock version) or the M30T (Dock version), which have minor modifications for docking compatibility.

Is frame arm lock detection supported on the DJI M30 Series?

Yes. The M30 Series supports frame arm lock detection. If an arm is not properly locked in place, the app will display a warning and prevent takeoff to ensure flight safety.

How long does it take to fully charge the TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries?

Using the BS30 Intelligent Battery Station, it takes about 50 minutes to fully charge two TB30 batteries. They can reach 90% in around 40 minutes, and a quick 20%–90% charge takes only about 30 minutes.

Can TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries be used in low-temperature environments?

Yes. TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries operate in temperatures from -20°C (-4°F) to 50°C (122°F). However, battery life will be shortened in colder climates. Try to keep the batteries above 18°C (64°F), or leverage the self-heating function if needed. A takeoff limit will be triggered if the battery temperature is below 10°C (50°F).

Can I board an airplane with a TB30 Intelligent Flight Battery?

Each TB30 has a power level of 131.6 Wh. Always check with your airline and comply with local regulations before flying with drone batteries.

Why does my TB30 battery heat up during long-term storage?

To maintain its health, a fully charged lithium battery will automatically discharge to about 60% if stored for an extended period. This process releases some heat, which is normal and helps prolong battery life.

Does the BS30 Intelligent Battery Station support auto-discharging?

No. The BS30 Intelligent Battery Station does not support auto-discharging. That function is handled by the TB30 battery itself.

Is the M30 Series remote controller compatible with the Matrice 300 RTK?

Not currently. Compatibility between the M30 Series RC and the Matrice 300 RTK will be provided in a future update.

Can I replace the gimbal and camera of the DJI Matrice 30 Series with other payloads?

No. The gimbal and camera on both the M30 and M30T are fixed and cannot be replaced. If you require alternative payloads, consider the DJI Matrice 350 RTK, designed for payload flexibility.

Which photo modes are available on the DJI M30 Series?

The M30 Series supports Single Shot, High-res Grid Photo, Timed Shot, Panorama, and Smart Low-light Photo.

How do I use the gimbal lock function on the M30 Series?

Flip the gimbal 90° upward to lock its tilt. This protects the lens from scratches during transport or storage. When you arrive at your flight location, you can easily unlock the gimbal to start flying.

Does the M30 Series support SDK functionality?

Yes. It supports Payload SDK and Mobile SDK. The Payload SDK interface is located on top of the aircraft. For technical support, contact dev@dji.com.

Does the DJI M30 Series support accurate mapping?

Not to the degree required for professional surveying. You can plan a flight path and capture photos, but the M30 Series (including the DJI M30T and M30T drone) is not designed for high-accuracy aerial mapping.

Can the M30 Series be used with the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station?

Yes. Simply upgrade your D-RTK 2 Mobile Station to the latest firmware, and it will be compatible with the M30 Series.

How do I upgrade the firmware of the DJI M30 Series?

Firmware can be updated in several ways:

  • Using DJI Assistant 2 for Enterprise on a computer (connect your aircraft, RC, and D-RTK 2 Station).
  • Through the DJI Pilot 2 App for the M30 (or M30T), RC, and BS30 Battery Station.
  • Offline update: Download the firmware from DJI’s website, place it on an SD card, and insert the card into the aircraft.
Refer to the User Manual for detailed instructions.

Does the DJI M30 Series support dual control?

Yes. Dual control is supported, allowing two operators to manage the drone simultaneously for added flexibility and safety.

Which apps are supported by the M30 Series?

DJI Pilot 2 (for Android) is supported, along with any third-party apps developed with the Mobile SDK (MSDK).

Will DJI launch an official M30 Series backpack?

There are currently no plans for an official backpack. Many pilots opt for third-party cases or custom carry solutions.
